Apple is one of the biggest when it comes to tech giants. They are customer-focused on every end of their products life-cycle. However, their series of chargers for their mobile devices has changed drastically in the past 5 years and their chargers are some of the most unique in the industry.
Chargers are essential to daily life and each one can serve a different purpose. Although, they are not all created equal. Today we’ll be ranking all the best chargers that apple has to offer.
Lighting Cable
The trusty lighting cable. This is the universal charing cable for just about all of apples mobile devices. It works for every iteration of apple phone and ipad. Apple tends to give out these cables like candy I find them in every nook and cranny of the house.
While these are generally the go to for charging your devices, there are some drawbacks to it. You have to tug and pull at the cable to unplug it and these are pretty short cables, so if the charger is on the floor and you’re wanting to rest your phone on the desk, it might not reach all the way.
A few major plus’ to this phone are for the car and charging on the go. Most cars have a spot to use a converter-to-usb plug that you can use for the lighting cable. This is super handy if you put your phone on a dock while you drive so you can charge. Also, if your phone falls out of the dock (like mine does) it is easily accessible by following the cable to your device.
This charger is pretty vanilla when it comes to apple and may not give you the charging speed you are looking for, however its great for the bread and butter of charging your usual devices.
10-Foot Lighting Cable
Let’s take it to the next charging cable down the list. It is another lighting cable with a fantastic added capability of length. The ten-foot cable can be found on amazon for fairly cheep and can help you get the benefits of a lighting cable with less of the hassle.
While the standard lighting cable is great for the car, these 10 foot cables are great for the home (especially with kids or teens)! These cables charge every iteration of iPhone and iPad while giving you an extra 7 feet of mobility while charging.
So, you can easily have the charger on the wall and be able to charge while you’re on the couch, cooking in the kitchen, or trying to get some chores done. These chargers also tend to be faster at charging than the regular lighting cables.
While you’re in the car these cables are great for road trips and passing the charger into the back seat. However, if you are in the front there’s no need for this as the regular cable has enough length.
Contact Watch Charger
We are taking a bit of a detour with our mobile device charges to talk about the apple watch contactless charger. You’ll need to charge your apple watch about once a day depending on your iteration. The watch does not take a lighting cable so this cable is essential!
This cable has a slight magnetic charge to them so they’ll stay on the watch. You’ll need to take your watch off to charge it so a longer cord is not generally needed for charging this device.
A quick note about safety. Do not, I repeat, do not charge on plastic. It will melt and stick onto the charger (learned from experience)! What I’ve learned is the best way to charge is while you’re at the desk and won’t need to track any activity.
At your desk, you’ll also have your phone and your email with you so checking your devices will be easy and the watch is mostly unnecessary. Generally, it takes an hour or two to charge your watch, so be sure to time it right when it is the best time for you to charge your apple watch.
Contact Flat Charger
Going back to the mobile chargers, we are coming to the contact flat charger. This charger is for any iPhone iteration 8 and above. This one is great for at the desk or on the counter, wherever you place your phone down and stop use for charging.
This is great for when you are charging at night or want to charge while you take a break from electronics. These tend to be faster than the standard lighting cable and can be good while at your desk!
Contact Upright Charger
The final apple charger is the contact stand upright charger. This charger is made for the best desk workflow charging situation. It acts like a stand so you can see when notifications come in on your phone and easily reply.
